ABOUT THE BAND

Uptown Tango offers a miniature orchestration of a traditional Tango Orchestra, appropriate in regard to volume, size and cost for venues ranging from parties to restaurants or tango dance milongas. The duo brings classical and jazz mindsets to the performance of classic Argentine Tango. The instrumentation can vary to fit your needs and easily expands to a Trio or Quartet to enable more intricate arrangements. Uptown Tango performs instrumental tango and adds a vocalist on certain occasions. Our high quality and tastefully balanced sound system work with any space. Please enjoy Uptown Tango's unique audio recordings on our site and visit the "song list" tab to see our repertoire.

EVAN MECCARELLO

EVAN MECCARELLO (VIOLIN)

Like many classical musicians, Evan first experienced tango through performing music of Astor Piazzolla. It was "love at first hearing", and he soon formed a duo with a bassist to perform this repertoire. He began arranging tunes by Carlos Gardel for this group, and the doorway to classic Argentine tango was opened. A few years later, a chance meeting and performance with Seth Sealfon was the birth of Uptown Tango. Evan's main work is conducting orchestras where he can be found on the podium with ensembles around the Northeastern US.
